It was last December. A resident of Fontaine-lès-Vervins killed his dog. The facts took place during a weekend, at night, against a background of alcohol, recalls L’Union.

The man used a shotgun against his American Staffordshire. At the time the circumstances were not entirely clear. Obviously, two dogs, including the American staff, were fighting. The owner reportedly managed to separate them and got the Staffordshire into his car after he bit him.

The master would then have parked in a field, before killing his animal inside the vehicle, which ended up stained with blood. A car that was abandoned on the spot.

Alerted, the soldiers had arrested him, before a search of his home. On the spot, the police found four hunting rifles, including the one that had been used and cannabis resin. The alleged perpetrator explained himself to the Laon court last March.

He was sentenced to 6 months in prison suspended on probation for 2 years with the obligation to compensate the civil parties, including the Stéphane Lamart association for animal protection, to the definitive ban on keeping an animal, to the withdrawal of his license hunting for 5 years, the prohibition to hold or carry a weapon for 5 years, the confiscation of weapons held.

He will have to pay the sum of €500 in damages and €500 in legal costs.
