Upon entering this apartment in Limoges (Haute-Vienne), the police surely did not expect to make such an unpleasant discovery. Alerted by foul odors, the police entered an apartment on Boulevard Bel-Air on Monday, report our colleagues from Le Populaire du Center.
Inside, the officials discovered, in the middle of a floor completely strewn with excrement, four dogs. This mother and her three puppies are locked in one of the rooms. Only a bag of kibble, unsuitable for young dogs, is disembowelled. The police note the absence of water. All three puppies are extremely thin.
According to the regional daily, the animals, belonging to a breed considered as a defense dog or attack dog, were taken care of by a veterinarian who considered that the days of the puppies were in danger. Investigators managed to summon the 30-year-old owner to the police station, according to France Bleu.
Abandoned for over a month
Immediately placed in police custody, he explained that he had left his accommodation for more than a month, on June 19 exactly. An abandonment for “personal concerns”. He assured investigators that his dog had a total of 11 puppies and that he had sold or given away the other eight puppies.
However, the sale and possession of these category 1 dogs are now prohibited and punishable by a six-month prison sentence and a fine of 15,000 euros. He also did not have a license to keep his dog. In addition, the SPA, which will have to keep these prohibited dogs, has filed a complaint.
Released, the man will also be tried on December 8 for “abandonment of a domestic animal exposing him to an immediate or imminent risk of death”. He incurs, for this offence, a 3-year prison sentence and a 45,000 euro fine.
